Dinner Theatre

written by David Landau

music and lyrics by Nikki Stern

A 1940's private detective story comes to life.  Rick Archer, PI, is hired to find  "a gal who has more curves than a west coast highway."  His search leads him to the Cafe Noir, a place stuck in the black & white 1940's.  The cafe's owner has washed up murdered and the gal Rick came to find was the last person seen with the victim.  Now Rick must use his hard-boiled detective talents to find the real killer.  Was it the French madam, the voodoo priestess, the shyster British attorney, the black marketeer, or the femme fatale herself?

To help Rick solve the mystery, plan now to attend the Strauss Theare Center's upcoming dinner Theatre production.

A Special Thank You!

Each year, Strauss Theatre Center, its staff and board of directors, put together a season of productions and events for the Monroe community. They work diligently through months of reading plays and weighing options, balancing budgets, and maximizing marketing opportunities. Each season, thousands of seats are filled, and a myriad of local and not so local patrons satiate their hunger for arts through the efforts of a small community stage.

But beside each staff and board member stand fine volunteers, the unsung heroes of community theatres across the country. They are our box office workers, our ushers, our stage managers, light board operators, sound board operators, fly rail operators, actors and actresses; they are the backbone and heart of our stage. They make a business into a home for one another and for our audiences, and we owe them our sincerest appreciation.

Thank you to each of the lives that have touched ours this season. Thank you for the time you have dedicated, the laughs and smiles and criticisms you have shared. Thank you for the phones you have answered, the goodies you’ve baked, the tickets you’ve torn, the characters you’ve become, and the technical duties you’ve performed. Thank you for any moment of time you’ve spent, not only in this building but throughout our town, using your passion for the arts for our benefit and spreading your love for Strauss to your neighbors and friends. Thank you for being our advocates in the area and our friends in this playhouse. We could not function without you, and we appreciate your love for Strauss.
